Our Story
This is where the town known as Sedona began--Red Rock Loop Road. It was first known as Red Rock, AZ territory, since Arizona didn't become a state until 1912, but the early pioneer settlers came here in the late 1880's. The first cemetery in the area as well as the first school house, and church meetings all began on this road.

Sedona Schnebly, for whom the town of Sedona was named, didn't arrive here until 1902! Visit the pioneer cemetery on Upper Loop to view the names of some of the early settlers to this region. Schuerman, Loy, Chavez, Elmer, Jones, Dumas, to name a few.
When Heinrich Schuerman and his wife Doretta arrived in the 1880's, there wasn't much here except for beautiful red rock views. They got to work and resurrected the old irrigation ditch first dug out by the Native Americas. They planted fruit orchards and grape vines. The Homestead Act brought in more settlers and the area grew from there.
Today we residents enjoy the slower pace of a rural community.
Vi

there is more to the story. Keep checking back.
